Business as Missions
Willamette International has embraced a philosophy of Business as Missions in Sierra Leone. We make micro loans to establish businesses in the areas of frozen foods sales and building products retail. We also have a steel manufacturing business called Lion Mountain Steel, and are currently developing of a tilapia fish farm ministry called Willamette Aquaculture.
It is my pleasure to announce to you the recent addition of Kim Busby to the Willamette International Missions staff. She will be joining us on a part time basis to oversee finance and business management in Sierra Leone. She will also be assisting in our record keeping efforts in the US.
Her responsibilities will include oversight of accounting operations in the United States. She will assist us to maintain utmost financial integrity in our operations here. She will liaison with the CPA firm in Oregon to maintain compliance with not-for-profit standards in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and to maintain compliance with certification standards for the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), now in our eighth year of certification.
In Sierra Leone, Kim will be working with our bookkeeping staff there to establish and maintain operation of an online QuickBooks software program. QuickBooks is foreign to Sierra Leone accountants, and it has required ongoing oversight to make sure that the records are kept accurately.
We covet your prayer support for Kim as she embarks on this new ministry. Please let us know if you would like to sign up for updates on progress in the mission.
